Maihar has a famous temple of Sharda Maa which is situated at a height of 600 feet between the mountain ranges of Trikuta Mountain on the banks of Tamas river which plays in the lap of the naturally rich Kaimur and Vindhya mountain ranges. This historic temple is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. On the basis of historical facts, both the brothers Alha and Udal, the heroes of Alhakhand, were exclusive devotees of Maa Sharda. Alha’s pond and arena still exist at the foot of the mountain. Thousands of visitors come here every day but a fair is held here during both the Navratris in the year in which lakhs of pilgrims come to Maihar. This famous Shakti Peeth place of Goddess Sharda is the center of faith of lakhs of devotees of the country. This temple of Maa is religious and historical. Ichchhapurti Mandir near KJS is a tourist spot.

How to Reach:

By Air

Nearest airport to reach Maihar is Rewa, Jabalpur, Khajuraho and Allahabad. From these airports you can easily reach to Maihar by train, bus or taxi. Jabalpur to Maihar distance aprox. 150 KM. Khajuraho to Maihar distance aprox. 130 KM. Allahabad to Maihar distance aprox. 200 KM.. Rewa airport is the nearest approx. 55KM.

By Train

Normally all trains do not have stop at Maihar station but during Navratri festivals most of the trains stop at Maihar. Nearest railway station junction for all trains stoppage - Satna Station distance from Maihar Station aprox 36 KM. Katni Station distance from Maihar Station aprox 55 KM. Jabalpur Station distance from Maihar Station aprox 150 KM.

By Road

Maihar city is well connected by road with National highway 7. You can easily get regular buses to Maihar city from nearest major cities.
