Maihar is the 55th district of Madhya Pradesh state and 6th district of Rewa division, which came into existence by separating from Satna district in the year 2023. Having an area of 2722.79 Sq KM. It is Bounded on the earth by the and Satna districts. Municipal Corporation is functioning in Maihar, which is made up of 24 wards. Maihar District Lies under Satna Loksabha Seat and it has Two assembly seats namely 065,Maihar and 066,Amarpatan. Maihar, Amarpatan and Ramnagar are the three Tehsils lies in the boundaries of Maihar district.
Maihar is 65 km from Rewa division via National Highway 30 and is at the same distance from Katni district. It is 34 km from Satna.
District maihar is rich in its religious culture and is famous as the religious city of Maa Sharda as well as the music city and major industrial city of Madhya Pradesh.
